"AIR U BREATHE" - PACK
As a tribute to Nike Air, Nike design has teamed up with three other creative heads: Ben Drury, Hit and Kevin Lyons. They each applied their own personal interpretation of Nike Air onto a Nike Windrunner jacket, a t-shirt and a Nike air running shoe.
KEVIN LYONS
As well as being a long-time collaborator with Nike, Kevin Lyons has worked with SSUR, Stüssy, Girl Skateboards, Huf, Commonwealth Stacks and Beams. He also has his own clothing brand, Natural Born.
Three decades of graphic design inform his design for Nike: the inflatable aesthetic of Fillmore posters from the late 60s; flyers for DJ Kool Herc's parties in the 70s; and Joy Division sleeve art from the early 80s. "When I thought of graphically illustrating Nike Air", he says, "all three of these raced through my mind." The result is two pieces of graphic art: one, a calming series of horizontal lines that occasinally bubble into clouds, the other a more energetic collection of stars, planets, arrows and rainbows - realized in his trademark hand-drawn geometric style - bursting out from between the lines. Both designs appear on the Windrunner jacket and t-shirt (one on the front, one on the back), while the kinetic design adrons the sole of his shoe, the Nike Air Max 360.
